The Guenzel Gallery is the center of activity and the art-filled entry point for students, art appreciators and visitors to the Peninsula School of Art. Our year round exhibitions of professional artists' works underscore our workshop programming with themes that educate, transform and inspire.

April 16-July 10
Opening Reception: Saturday April 17, 5-7pm, includes a unique artmaking event
Join six nationally-recognized artists as they reveal what influences their choice of medium and how that impacts the meaning in their work. From Charles Munch’s large-scale, environmentally-themed oil paintings, to Erika Simmon’s rock star portraits utilizing cassette tape, this exhibition promises to go beyond the surface of the artistic process to explore the roots of inspiration. A wall in the Guenzel Gallery will be reserved for others to express why they have chosen to work in the media they do. Limited art supplies will be available for this purpose.

August 13-September 25
Opening Reception: Friday, August 13, 5-7pm

Due to the increased reliance on the internet and other electronic media, words on paper have become less precious in their original application. Seeing ink on paper for both its textural quality and possibility for layered meanings, artists are utilizing books as a medium for expressive, sculptural forms. From large-scale installations, to fine jewelry, this exhibition displays the varied, cutting edge works of today’s prominent sculptural book artists

The narratives of Scandinavian mythology are rich with visual opportunities. The influence of the settlement of Door County by Northern Europeans is still prevalent today. This exhibition explores four Scandinavian myths dealing with the natural world, making its theme a fitting and intriguing muse for both 2- and 3-D works
